What if your support of St. Mary Medical Center could last forever? With an endowment, it can.
Vision and a Promise
In the early 1970's, our founders, the Sisters of St. Francis made a promise to fill a critical gap in Bucks County healthcare by creating St. Mary Medical Center, a hospital devoted to the compassionate care of body, mind and spirit for the entire community.
And our community has responded. Each year since opening our doors in 1973, more and more families have come to rely on us for lifesaving care and comprehensive healthcare services.
We have a bold vision for the future of St. Mary Medical Center. It's a future of sustained clinical excellence and unfaltering commitment to compassion and leadership in healthcare.
We have already embarked on this caring mission. Our hospital has celebrated 35 successful years in providing the very best healthcare imaginable in a community setting.
We are now proposing a long-term investment in the health of our community — an endowment is a reliable source of long-term, sustainable support that will provide continuous funding to St. Mary Medical Center forever — the greatest gift the present can offer to the future.
Now we are asking friends and supporters who share in our values and vision to join us in securing the margin of excellence that an endowment can provide for a permanent and lasting life-enhancing institution.
Why an Endowment?
The Foundation Board approved the creation of an endowment in 2008 to establish a permanent source of income for the future to maintain our standard of excellence. The aim is to build the endowment to provide an income to sustain our many programs, services and facilities for generations to come. This will allow us to address our long term needs more effectively.
How do Endowed Funds Work?
The endowment is held and managed by the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation. It is invested for both income and growth, with a portion of the return used each year in perpetuity for special projects and high priority needs at St. Mary. Each year any remaining income, beyond the annual spending distribution to St. Mary, is invested to preserve and grow the original gifts to sustain a legacy for future generations.
How will the Foundation continue to increase endowment?
The Foundation will work closely with donors and potential donors to establish long-term endowment gifts that will provide meaningful support for the future. The Foundation's planned giving and development staff members collaborate with attorneys and financial advisors in our service area to help inform potential donors about the benefits an endowment can provide for St. Mary and to donors.
How can I help?
Would you like to make a very special gift to St. Mary Medical Center Foundation — one that will express your lasting concern for the health and welfare for the community? Perhaps you should consider a gift to the endowment. This offers permanent financial resources and allows the hospital to make plans for the future, ensuring St. Mary's viability.
How can I make a donation to the Endowment?
Gifts can be in the form of cash, appreciated stock and gifts pledged over a number of years. The endowment can receive bequests, insurance proceeds, or proceeds from income generating vehicles to donors like Charitable Remainder Trusts. Irrevocable Planned Gifts including gifts of Real Estate and Charitable Gift Annuities are also welcome. All donors of $10,000 or more to the Endowment, except those wishing to remain anonymous will be recognized on a donor wall in the hospital and publications from the Foundation. Charter members, who give outright or pledge $100,000 or more to the Endowment, except those wishing to be anonymous, will also have naming opportunities where appropriate.
