Giving Thanks to those who give so much to St. Mary

Annual President's and Legacy Society Dinner

The Annual President’s and Legacy Society Dinner is a way for the St. Mary Foundation to recognize and thank donors who give more than $5,000 per year, Legacy donors who have named St. Mary in their estate plans, and lifetime donors, all of whom support the hospital through their generosity.

Lights twinkled, snow fell, and music filled the air as 140 St. Mary supporters celebrated a year of successful fundraising for St. Mary Medical Center.  This year’s theme “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” was a cool contrast to outside temperatures in the 50’s and transported guests directly into next season.  The scene inside the Trenton County Club was aglow with lovely white lights, sparkly tabletops and trees laced with soft snow surrounding a white sleigh that looked inviting enough for someone to hop in and take a ride.

Sue Wert, Chair of the St. Mary Foundation, reflected on the appropriate timing of this recognition dinner.  “November is a time of giving thanks for what we have and what we can give to others. Tonight is a celebration of the accomplishments made through your fundraising efforts this year and to thank each of you for the time, talent, and financial resources you have shared with St. Mary Medical Center to help others.”

Greg Wozniak, President and CEO of St. Mary Medical Center, addressed the group, echoing Sue’s sentiments, “We are here tonight to celebrate your work and your support on behalf of St. Mary Medical Center.  Raising money is not easy and without your help we would not be able to care for the thousands of patients that entrust their lives to St. Mary and leave healing and full of hope for their future. Thank you for supporting the healing mission of St. Mary Medical Center.”

The violin trio,The String Angels provided the evening’s entertainment with six exciting musical pieces ranging from classical to contemporary arrangements.

The highlight of the evening was a video presentation that told the story of a patient named Mark Harhigh, who experienced a massive heart attack miles from the hospital and lived to talk about it.  The story reiterates the importance of financial support from the community and how that support directly impacts patients lives every day.
